Position: Radiologic TechnologistLocation: Cookeville, TNJob Type: Full Time/Permanent Job Summary:This position is responsible for working directly with patients and assisting radiologists and/or staff physicians while administering x-rays in the course of radiological examinations in concordance with physician orders. The radiologic technologist shall be capable of operating radiologic equipment, perform a variety of radiological procedures, operate the picture archiving system, use radiographic supplies including contrast while providing patient care and patient safety as established by department standards. This position is responsible for performing a variety of basic clerical and housekeeping functions such as examination and work area cleaning, telephone communications, computer system data entry, information retrieval (HIS, RIS, PACS), and infection control.The level I technologist shall be competent in the following areas: general radiography, routine fluoroscopy including barium studies, portable and emergent trauma radiography, radiographic technique formulation, radiographic quality control and basic surgical radiographic procedures. Level I technologists exercise professional judgment while performing services in a demeanor complimentary to customer service, age specific criteria, safety and medical ethics. AAS or BS in Radiologic Sciences preferred.Radiologic Technologist Required, AndBLS Healthcare Provider RequiredRegistered with the ARRTThe candidate must successfully pass the national registry test for radiologic technology within 12 months from the start of being registry eligible.Job Requirements:Maintains Current Licensure/CertificationsAttends Mandatory MeetingsAttends at least 50% of unit meetingsReads 100% of meeting minutes not attended within 30 daysReads emails in a timely mannerCompletes HealthStream assignments on timeCompletes unit specific competencies in a timely mannerTechnical/Job Skills Standards:Competently operates and understands basic operational features of radiographic equipment.Strives to assure all pertinent anatomy included on all radiographs and that proper positioning is obtained.Demonstrates knowledge of technical factor selection and manipulation for optimal radiograph exposure with minimal patient dose.Demonstrates knowledge of, and routinely performs, proper critique of radiographs to include, but not limited to; proper anatomical positioning, all pertinent anatomy included, proper technique, proper patient demographics, proper use of personalized position markers with evidence of collimation on views where applicable.Demonstrates knowledge of proper image processing ensuring successful transmission to the PACS system.Sufficient knowledge of how to manage the PACS system to ensure correct patient/exam information is in the system.Demonstrates knowledge of use, and routinely utilizes positioning aids, to obtain correct positioning of patients and to eliminate need for repeats due to motion, etc.Strives to maintain reject rate below department standard without sacrificing film quality on exams turned in for dictation.Asks for guidance from a senior technologist if additional views would be beneficial.Assures all pertinent forms and documents are completed and sent to Medical Records (pregnancy forms, contrast criteria sheets, consent forms, etc).Demonstrates knowledge required for assisting and working with radiologists. Assures all supplies and exam room ready before calling for a radiologist.Ensures all images are in PACS correctly.Able to obtain vital signs and record as needed for procedures.
