Job DescriptionDirects the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. The Nursing Director plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of overall nursing care to patients. He/she provides managerial support in conjunction with the Program Director by providing supervision and evaluation of all nursing personnel on the unit. He/she contributes to the program, nursing and hospital through commitment to nursing goals, the supervision of clinical staff, and participation in the community relations program. The Nursing Director reports administratively to the program director and clinically to the Facility CNO. Requires: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree; certification as a Psychiatric RN; minimum of five years progressively responsible management and experience in psychiatric health services, or related field, demonstrating leadership expertise; knowledge regarding psychiatric nursing; current Basic Life Support (BLS); Handle with Care - Behavior Management System Training required within 90 days of hire; ability to work effectively with the psychiatric patient; excellent customer service skills; excellent critical thinking skills; knowledge of the professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care; knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care; knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care; knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment; skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care; ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action; ability to act in a supervisory role, perform effective performance evaluations, recruit, hire, retain, orient, train, develop, mentor, coach and discipline staff; ability to complete necessary documentation in a timely manner; ability to provide appropriate feedback and communications to staff; ability to inspire and motivate people; ability to develop effective schedules, ability to monitor staffing levels, meet productivity and flex staff as necessary; ability to manage a budget, excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare and maintain records accurately writing reports and responding to correspondence; ability to prepare professional written correspondence and reports; ability to use business telephone etiquette; ability to independently operate a copier, fax, calculator, computer, scanner, telephone, and other office equipment; ability to establish and maintain positive, professional working relationships, effective interpersonal skills for interfacing with all levels of hospital employees and physicians, ability to offer and accept constructive feedback, ability to interact with a diverse population, proven project management skills, ability to exercise outstanding, decisive judgment; strong analytical and reasoning skills, ability to work independently, be self-motivated/directed and work with minimal supervision, strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and be flexible, ability to establish priorities; ability to meet deadlines; effective skills in identifying problems, using problem-solving methodologies, and recommending solutions; ability to complete complex tasks in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines; ability to work well under stressful conditions with time constraints; ability to interpret, apply and adhere to guidelines, policies, and procedures; ability to gain knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures and The Joint Commission Standards; ability to maintain quality control standards; ability to lead committees, take minutes, and document committee activities; ability to maintain confidentiality of all information; ability to develop and maintain department quality assurance; ability to maintain quality control standards; and basic computer skills. Masters Degree in Nursing preferred;Expected salary $45.51-$68.26 (Exempt Position)
