Manager Med-Surg / Progressive Care Unit:
The Nurse Manager is a highly qualified, expertclinician who possesses advanced care skills and has demonstrated strongcritical thinking skills. The Manager assists the Nursing Unit Director in planning, implementing andassessing the daily functions of Nursing Care and Services provided in the uniton all shifts; provides supervisory and management oversight for staff membersand departmental resources and processes (to include scheduling of staff and Kronos);actively assists in Nursing Quality Improvement programs and is supportive andknowledgeable regarding the established Standards of Care/Standards of Practiceand hospital policies and procedures.
The Nurse Manager supports the mission, visionstatements and goals of Alaska Regional Hospital (ARH). The Manager facilitates interventions to meet patients physical, psychological,spiritual, social, cultural and educational needs; coordinates functions withphysicians and other departments of the hospital in a spirit that fosterspositive working relationships. Must possess excellent interpersonal, time management andcommunication skills. Serving as role model, mentor, educator, and evaluator inthe Critical Care area for the staff is essential.
Qualifications
License Required:
- Registered Nurse for the State of Alaska
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS, required. CCRN preferred.
- Previous Management Experience Preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years experience preferred in all aspects of critical care nursing.
Education:
- 4 year/Bachelor Degree or in process of/BSN Required, or enrolled in a program within 12 months.
- Post Graduate Degree Preferred
- Knowledge of State of Alaska law, Nurse Practice Act, Federal/CMS regulations and Joint Commission standards
