Cardiacmonitor technicians are responsiblefor watching patients' heart ratesand reporting important changes to the nursing staff; they often use equipmentthat tracks several patients simultaneously. Cardiac monitor techs may also perform electrocardiographs (EKGs), which read electricalimpulses sent by the heart.
About this unit:
Responsibilities:
- Underthe direct supervision of the Head Nurse, and close direction of a registerednurse provides visual observation of cardiac monitors on a pulmonary telemetryunit.
- Reports,documents and communicates rhythms/changes appropriately.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
- Graduate of a Nursing Program from an accredited school
- Currently licensed to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Louisiana
- CPR for Healthcare Providers to be completed within 30 days of hire
- ACLS to be completed within 30 days of hire
- Applicant must successfully complete the monitor technician credentialing process within the first three weeks of employment.
