As a Workers Comp Manager, you will:
Advise, counsel and train employees in management of occupational injuries, contributing to a decreasing cost of injury.
Review status of claims for employees on leave of absence and advises HR department when the claim reaches the stage where the employee can be terminated from roster in accordance with policy and procedures.
Manage the relationship with Third Party Administrators (TPA), by creating standards and special instructions for the Kindred account, as well as conducting audits to ensure compliance. Troubleshoot and manage to resolve, all problems encountered with specific adjusters and/or claims office.
Review requests from TPA's for settlement authority on large complex claims over ($25,000) and authorize as appropriate.
Prepare various quarterly and bi-monthly w/c reports from the risk management and loss prevention departments for distribution to the field.
Compile statistical information and reports for broker and actuary use.
Serves as liaison between TPA's and facilities to ensure Support Center guidelines and submission of timely information occurs. Refer appropriate employment issues to HR counsel.
Provide direction to TPA on specific claim handling issues. Ensure that claims are properly managed and on course for timely and appropriate resolution.
Manage process of obtaining w/c data from various insurance carriers for input into the Stars database system. Address all data, claim, and system problems with all carriers, and coordinate with the Stars representative, managing the problem to resolution.
Bachelor's degree in a related field
5-8 years corporate experience managing employee work related injuries
Excellent knowledge of Workers' Compensation field, including laws, insurance requirements, claims settlement process
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to read and comprehend complex insurance regulations/laws
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel; relevant internal and TPA claims systems
Knowledge of HR policies and practices, and how to apply to occupational injury cases
