Yeshivat Shalshelet is a Yeshiva day school located in Tenafly, NJ, serving children in grades 2-7 with language based learning differences. The first of its kind in the state, our program is designed to produce strong self advocates who can navigate the academic landscape, empowered by their knowledge and self-awareness. Our mission is to produce students who are poised for academic, spiritual and social-emotional success in a mainstream educational environment.
About the PositionYeshivat Shalshelet, a growing school dedicated to supporting children with language-based learning differences, is seeking a Part-Time Director of Development. In this pivotal role, the Director will work closely with the Head of School, Executive Director, Board and Fundraising Committee to manage and drive the fundraising strategy for this 3-year-old institution.
The Director will oversee annual and individual giving campaigns and support grant management with a focus on cultivating and maintaining relationships with donors to enhance revenue growth. As a key team member, the Director of Development will help establish a strong philanthropic foundation to ensure the long-term success of Yeshivat Shalshelet and its mission to provide high-quality education for students with unique learning needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day management of fundraising activities and campaigns.
- Assist in developing and implementing a long-term strategic fundraising plan aligned with the school's mission and goals.
- Manage the donor database, ensuring complete and accurate records.
- Generate regular and ad hoc reports related to fundraising performance and donor engagement.
- Develop and send donor correspondence, including gift acknowledgements, thank-you letters and impact reports.
- Cultivate and steward strong relationships with both individual and corporate donors.
- Collaborate on planning, organizing, and executing school-related fundraising events.
- Identify grant opportunities to expand funding sources and lead grant application processes.
- Partner with the Board, Executive Director and Head of School on broader strategic planning and organizational policy formation.
- Attend staff, board, and other relevant meetings as needed, some travel may be required.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have all or most of the following attributes:
- Minimum of 5 years of development experience, with a strong emphasis on individual giving and nonprofit fundraising. Fundraising experience in the Jewish community is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively articulate the mission and goals of Yeshivat Shalshelet to various stakeholders.
- Strong donor relations and customer service skills.
- Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to think strategically and take initiative in achieving fundraising objectives.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with donors and community leaders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and donor management software, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Experience working with schools or organizations focused on individuals with learning differences.
- Marketing skills and capabilities are a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
