Responsibilities Join the Mayo Clinic team as our new Director of Communications – Total Rewards & HR and lead the charge in developing and executing our total rewards communications strategy. In this pivotal role, you’ll partner with Mayo Clinic Human Resources leadership to craft and execute a dynamic communication plan that resonates across the enterprise. Your mission: to serve as the communications consultant and advisor for Total Rewards and HR programs, ensuring transparency in Mayo Clinic offerings towards greater understanding and appreciation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic communication counsel on Total Rewards and HR programs.
- Develop and implement comprehensive Total Rewards communications strategies that align with Mayo Clinic’s goals and objectives for both internal and external audiences.
- Creates messages and communications that are impactful, accurate, concise and optimized for maximum reach and engagement.
- Ensure brand and message alignment and coordination of communications.
- Active participation in Total Rewards and HR strategy meetings in helping execute on communication plans.
- Stay current on industry trends and best practices in Total Rewards
- Use data and analytical tools to measure and track impact of communication efforts on employees’ wellness and total rewards utilization.
- Generate reports and provide insights on communication effectiveness and making adjustments.
- Oversee the creation and distribution of engaging content across various platforms, including social media, websites, and newsletters.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communications channels, including marketing and social media.
- Monitor and analyze media coverage and communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of strategies and campaigns.
- Manage third-party vendors and agencies for occasional market-specific public relations activities.
- Partner with and provide guidance and support to enterprise communication teams to ensure alignment with Bold. Forward. strategies.
The director partners with senior leaders to drive innovation, challenge the status quo, and implement solutions and programs to advance priorities. Responsible for ensuring deliverables are met and outcomes achieved. Establishes and maintains strong relationships with both internal and external partners. The director helps to optimize operational performance. Serves as a thought partner and project liaison outside the department at all levels, helping to proactively identify and communicate business issues, coordinate project activities, streamline approaches/methodologies, and share best practices. Stewards the interest of the organization by ensuring strategies are viable. Fosters an internal culture of positive teamwork and transparency that drives excellent service, quality, diversity, an engaging work environment, and an overall continuous improvement mindset. Serves as a change agent, championing agile ways of thinking to enable teams and individuals to succeed. Drives excellence in financial management, communication (verbal, written, and presentations), business and strategic planning, performance accountability, and reporting. Supports department and institutional projects, staff recruitment, policy implementation, and budget management.
Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field plus 7 years of relevant work experience, or master's degree in a related field plus 5 years of relevant work experience.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Proven experience in human resource communications, Total Rewards communications, or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of internal communications and large enterprise nuances.
- Experience with crisis communication and reputation management is a plus.
- Experience building and maintaining strong relationships with media, influencers, and key stakeholders.
Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate in a way that creates clarity, simplifies messages and aligns with organizational strategy. Knowledge of communication channels and the ability to build effective communication and engagement strategies.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to independently identify opportunities, solutions and resolve challenges. Demonstrated ability to deliver impactful results.
