Cardiac Surgeon
UW Health in northern Illinois isrecruiting an exceptional, board-certified Cardiac Surgeon to join our dynamic cardiovascular surgery team. We are looking for candidates with an interest in adult cardiac surgery, with a focus on coronary artery disease and structural heart disease, including surgical and trans-catheter aortic valve replacement.
We’re looking for candidates who have the desire and passion to help build a robust cardiothoracic surgery service line in northern Illinois. You will have the full support of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in this endeavor.
As a member of our medical group with over 280 employed providers, including comprehensive cardiology and pulmonary teams as well as over 100 primary care providers, you have the benefit of a built-in referral base from the area’s preferred healthcare provider.

Providing care to cardiothoracic surgery patients at UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital, working closely with advanced practice providers who streamline workflow and patient management
- Working exclusively in the region’s only designated Heart Hospital, the UW Health Heart Institute is the most preferred provider of cardiac services in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Starting a TAVR program with the support of 10 cardiologists Supporting Carbone Cancer Center Rockford in caring for lung cancer patients Access to state-of-the-art equipment and operating rooms, with brand new hybrid room, 15 modern surgical suites and 3 Da Vinci Xi robots 30-bed ICU with dedicated in-house intensivist support
12-county regional referral area in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, with a catchment area of over 500,000 Academic appointment and teaching with University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford Qualifications:
MD, DO, or equivalent degree with completion of residency in General Surgery and additional fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery or completion of an Integrated-6 year or 4-3 Early Specialization cardiothoracic residency is required. Active license in the State of Illinois and active DEA license, or the ability to apply for such licenses prior to or upon hire. Benefits
