Cardiology Locum, General Campus TOH
The Division of Cardiology at the University of Ottawa and The Ottawa Hospital offers a 12-month locum position beginning July 2025 to cover academic and maternity leave within our team of 8 cardiologists. The successful candidate will be granted hospital privileges for in-patient care at the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital, which includes 8 weeks of in-patient service, as well as shared call responsibilities, with residents taking the first call. Out-patient care will take place at the General Campus of The Ottawa Hospital, where the candidate will manage a well-established academic outpatient cardiology practice, supported by a collaborative team of cardiologists and an exceptional administrative and clinical staff. The position offers access to a full range of non-invasive cardiac diagnostics, including echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, Holter monitoring, and ECG interpretation
Candidates must hold an FRCPC in Internal Medicine with subsequent specialization in Cardiology, or an equivalent specialty certification. Candidates with advanced training in echocardiography (level III or equivalent) are preferred. Successful candidates will be appointed as academic locums at the University of Ottawa within the Department of Medicine. The Ottawa Hospital ranks among the largest teaching hospitals in North America. In-patient services involve CCU and ward cardiology at the General campus of the Ottawa Hospital, consultations to the emergency department and subspecialty wards, and opportunities to teach residents and medical students.
