Responsibilities Sets up and performs routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals, grant commitments, i.e. assays, cell/tissue culture, animal studies, etc. Monitors results, reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications. Collects, enters and summarizes data. Assists in the maintenance of lab equipment and supplies. Performs basic statistical data analysis; prepares tables/charts/graphs and assists in organizing data. Presents at research laboratory meetings and contributes to writing of manuscripts. Works under supervision and may perform some assignments independently as discussed and approved by Principal Investigator.
The Regenerative Neuroimmunology Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated a Research Technologist to work in a multi-disciplinary area of regenerative medicine, immunology, and neuroscience. The Mayo Clinic is a world leading institution with a focus on patient care, research, and education. The person in this position will be responsible for routine lab management and for tissue processing, embedding, and sectioning. The person will also assist/perform surgeries and behavioral testing using a rodent spinal cord injury model. Skills in molecular biology and flow cytometry is an asset.
The candidate will set up and perform routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals, grant commitments, i.e. sectioning, animal studies, etc. Other duties include:

The Regenerative Neuroimmunology Laboratory research focuses on understanding how combinatorial therapies that promote regeneration through modulation of the inflammatory response are used to improve functional recovery following spinal cord injury. The laboratory is particularly focused on discovering synergies between different therapies using novel biomaterials, cells, small molecules, electrical stimulation and rehabilitation with the aim to target multiple features of spinal cord injury pathophysiology. To achieve this, the laboratory focuses on cell and gene therapies to deliver immunomodulatory compounds; novel biomaterial designs to deliver cells and drugs to promote regeneration; combination of regenerative and neuromodulatory approaches to promote plasticity, regeneration and immunomodulation; and machine learning approaches to analyze histologic and immunohistologic images to advance data collection in neuroscience.
Qualifications Requires bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, other relevant science, or an associates degree with 6 years of relevant laboratory experience. Must exhibit a solid understanding of lab techniques, equipment, and safety. Must have the ability to organize and carry out laboratory techniques independently and in a team setting. Experience with basic data analysis is required. This position requires demonstrated writing skills.
Preferred BA in Neuroscience or Regenerative Medicine. Experience in histology, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, as well as animal work is highly desirable.
