Active and unrestricted NJ State LPN License, BLS/CPR for Providers (American Heart Association or Red Cross)The following certifications are required in addition to BLS ,if working in the Emergency Room: ACLS and PALSb. Shall have minimum of two years of successful clinical practice within the past five years.c. The contractor Licensed Practical Nurse performing under this Contract shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.e. Shall have and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS). Certification must be by American Heart Association or client and individual must demonstrate ability to initiate CPR in event of respirator or cardiopulmonary arrest. Certifications must be renewed every year at no additional cost to the Government.f. Shall demonstrate ability in the areas of interpersonal relations, problem solving, and conflict resolution.g. Shall demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients. The individual demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served: Infants, Children, Adolescent, Adults, and Geriatric (>65).2. SPECIFIC DUTIES/TASKS THE CONTRACTOR HCP SHALL PERFORM BUT NOT LIMITED TO:a. The Contract Licensed Practical Nurse shall perform the following procedures, as required, and in strict compliance with standing orders and protocols set forth by the MTF to include, but will not necessarily be limited to the following: Obtain vital signs. Recognize and report abnormal values to the charge nurse/physician. Assist physician with physical exam. Prepares medical records, forms and documents Determine primary complaint and screen patients, and appropriately notify charge nurse/physician as indicated. Administer medication IAW nursing policy and accepted standards of practice. Prepare and position patients for examination and assist physician during examination. Recognize signs and symptoms of cardiac/respiratory distress and initiates appropriate resuscitative measures. Recognize signs and symptoms of potential life/limb threatening conditions and initiates appropriate emergency procedures to include notification of physician. Responsible for instructing patients as directed in a variety of areas such as health care and concerns, specimen collection, performance of various procedures, medication usage, and follow-up appointment. Perform or assist professional nurses or providers with a variety of treatments and procedures. Administer oxygen and respiratory therapy treatments. Perform venipuncture for the purpose of initiating IV fluids and/or obtaining laboratory specimens Apply hot and cold packs; perform wound care to include application of a sterile dressing; apply splints, ace wraps, and/or cravats as directed. Obtain various laboratory specimens such as throat and urine cultures. Assist physicians with various procedures such as EKGs. Conduct or assist with patient education. Enters, manipulates, and retrieves information from the electronic health record and other electronic systems supporting patient care and treatment. Cleans up environment at the completion of treatment or procedures. Maintains a safe patient environment, recognizing hazards and taking corrective action.
